Custom 24 with Floyd, curly maple neck, macassar ebony fingerboard, curly maple top (hand picked by Paul Reed Smith), beeswing sipo back, mammoth ivory side dots and headstock inlay, 14 karat gold etched bird on the 12 fret and so on and so on!!!!!

Patrick James Eggle visits WG with the New Gareth Pearson Model

We had a visit from Patrick Eggle today with a brand new guitar that blew us away.

It was a signature model designed by Gareth Pearson. If you've never heard Gareth check out this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbqji_fB2hM He is an incredible young guitarist from Wales who has played with Jan Akkerman, Tommy Emmanuel and Andy McKee.

Gareth wanted a guitar that sounded 'flat' acoustically as he plugs in most of time, a satin finish so he could actually feel the wood and an onboard preamp on the outside of the guitar that the eq could easily be changed on stage. The preamp is an AER AK30 Plus which will eventually be tweaked by Patrick and AER in Germany and will become a unique Patrick James Eggle version.

Timber wise the guitar will have English Walnut Back and Sides, Sitka Spruce Top, Maple Neck and a Rosewood Bridge, Fingerboard and Headstock veneer.

Not only did it have the usual impeccable build quality it was one of the best electro acoustics we have ever heard. And of course the guitar is built in the UK!!

The exciting news is that this model is set to become a standard guitar in the range with a price of under £2000 (tbc).

New Gibson Les Paul Tribute Model

We have managed to secure a few of this superb tribute to the original 1952 Les Paul Prototype. They have the same trapeze tailpiece corrected to match Les Paul’s Patent, only 564 guitars will be produced with 6 guitars made for each year Les lived 1915-2009, they will all will be hand numbered, all actual 1952 LP’s were listed as prototypes so these will be stamped prototype also, authentic P-90 pickups, gold top nitro-cellulose finish with natural mahogany back and neck, engraved Tribute truss rod cover, certificate included. These will being a very collectable guitar so call and reserve yours before they all go!! Only £2399

PRS Private Stock 513

As promised here is the pic of the maple top that i chose from the wood library at PRS. It really is an incredible example and we can't wait to see this with it's Solano Smoked Burst Finish. The guys at PRS actually call this 'crotch grain' maple.
Paul had been saving a highly figured piece of Beeswing Sipo and after some serious grovelling he let us use it for the back of the guitar!! Beeswing Sipo, Amercian Mahogany, is described as 'small scale wavy grain combined with spiral, interlocked grain producing a figure similar to the wing of a bee'.
The neck wood is heavily Flamed Maple with the same Solano Smoked Burst Finish together with a Madagascar Ebony fingerboard and headstock facing. We also chose Americana Birds.

We have a delivery time of approximately 2-4 months.

We have just managed to get one of these 2005 Limited Dragon Double Necks. This guitar has never been sold and is new.

One of only 50 worldwide and only 3 in the UK this is an incredibly collectable guitar.

They originally retailed at $50,000 (£32,000) but we can sell this amazing instrument at £19,995.

25th Anniversary PRS Dragon exclusive to WG!

Another WG PRS Exclusive. There will be only one of these incredible, and very collectable, guitars coming into the UK.

This has to be our favourite Dragon so far. Very understated and classy and a superb collectors piece for the future.

It features a new complex dragon fretboard exotic multi-material inlay. The headstock will feature a green ripple abalone Modern Eagle with a black composite shadow veneer.

Appointment highlights include 24 frets, 24-1/2” scale length, rosewood neck and fingerboard, carved curly flame maple Private Stock top and African striped mahogany back wood. The guitar will feature the new 59/09 Treble and Bass pickups and a PRS tremolo.

The body shape and electronics for the 25th Anniversary Dragon are modeled after one of Paul Smith’s early guitars which was most recently featured on the Howard Leese Private Stock guitar released in 2009.

Should be with us by the end of the year and we were surprised by the price for such an amazing guitar. Price to be confirmed but will be around £13,000.

We've just had a visit from Jez, the sales director of PRS UK with a car full of amazing new guitars. As usual we hand picked the best examples and as you can see from the pic they really are incredible!!

From left to right we chose a Custom 22 in Faded Fire Red (new colour), Custom 24 with 5 way blade in Whale Blue, Custom 22 in Burnt Almond (new colour), a 513 in Swamp Ash and a Custom 24 in Black Slate (new colour).

Smiffy at The PRS Experience

Last month I was lucky enough to get invited to the PRS Experience in Maryland.

As well a a full factory tour, including the new acoustic department, I helped pick 25 maple tops for a limited 25th Anniversary guitar. I also had the time to pick all the woods for our latest Private Stock 513 including an incredible figured mahogany back and one of the best tops the guys in the private stock department had ever seen.

There were live bands every night but the highlight was seeing Santana and Buddy Guy on the same stage. Joined later by Paul Reed Smith. Everyone played through the new PRS amps which sounded fantastic http://worldguitars.co.uk/dallas-combo-p-572.html

Roger and Neville from Guitar Techniques visit WG

Roger Newell and Neville Martin from Guitar Techniques came to visit us last week and they loved the shop. Neville spent some time with Jeff putting a Gibson 59 Les Paul VOS and a Matchless Lightning Combo through it's paces.

Did he buy one? No....he already uses one of these fantastic combo's!!
